How this started
Drainage work with a different objective.
Radon Gas Removal Systems came out of Elms Weeping Tile, a foundation drainage and repair business that has spent twenty years working on the same houses, in the same basements, in the same soil. Radon mitigation turned out to be drainage work with a different objective — the same slabs, the same weeping tile, the same sump pits, with gas rather than water as the thing being routed.
That background is why the patented sump-integrated system exists. Anyone who has spent two decades under Edmonton houses knows that most of them already have a perimeter collection system draining into an open pit in the basement floor. Using it, rather than working around it, was the obvious move to people who had been looking at those pits for years.
How we work
Testing comes first and it is free, because there is no honest way to recommend a system for a house nobody has measured. If a result comes back low, we say so. If it comes back high, we explain what the options are and what each one involves before anyone talks about a quote. Every system we install is followed by a verifying test, and carries a no-fail guarantee.
We work across residential, new-home and commercial construction. On new builds the collection layer and vent route can be designed in from the start, which is considerably cheaper and neater than retrofitting a finished house.
The network
Edmonton is the founding location, delivered alongside Elms Weeping Tile. Kelowna and the Okanagan is our first location outside Alberta. Halifax is opening next as the first Wise Cracks franchise location, with more Wise Cracks cities to follow. Every location runs the same systems, the same testing protocol and the same guarantee — that consistency is the point of running it as a network rather than a set of unrelated businesses.
